Phoenix

Phoenix is a top-down shooter where the player tries to score, stay alive, and increase their stats. The player begins in the overworld where they must slay enemies for points. Upon dying, the player is sent to the underworld where they must survive for as long as they existed in the overworld. If they survive the underworld, they are reborn using resources recovered in the underworld to boost their stats and gain additional abilities.

I partook in the conceptual design, programmed the out-of-game UI, and implemented all the sounds.

 

Phoenix was created for Global Game Jam 2013. The theme was that of the Ouroboros. The game was created in under 48 hours. This was my first experience with rapid development.
